Jennie Wilting passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022, at the Edmonton General Hospital.

She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Berend J (Cheryl Joyce) and Carl Douglas; her cat Rufus; many friends; and a multitude of nurses and students who had the privilege of learning about mental health and communication in her classes. She taught those skills at Grant MacEwan and at the University of Alberta.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.

Jennie was born near Leighton, Iowa to Carl and Nellie Vander-Linden. She attended grades 1-8 in Peoria, Iowa, and high school in Pella, Iowa. She graduated from Blodgett Memorial School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1950. She then attended the University of Minnesota, where she specialized in Nursing Education ad Mental Health. In 1960 she married Bert Wilting and moved to Canada, where she spent her career teaching in the mental health field. She is the author of several books. After retirement, Jennie volunteered at SAGE and continued popular teaching sessions.

Jennie loved the outdoors and spent many summers hiking in the mountains. She loved cats, had a great sense of humour, and a compassionate nature.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
