Much loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Roy Daniel "Dan" Widney, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on January 16, 2014, in Edmonton, Alberta.

Dan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bunny; children, Barbara, Mark (Jane), Dean (Karen), and Darrell (Grace); daughter-in-law, Annette; step-children, Tom (Laura), Susan (Lindsay), and Nancy (Bob); 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma; sister-in-law, Gerry; nieces; nephews; extended family and many friends.

Dan was predeceased by his first wife, Jackie; son, Scott; brother, Bud; and brother-in-law, Harry.

Dan began his extraordinary career in the oil patch with his father, Roy, and school friend, Harry Alger in 1950 with the formation of Widney Well Servicing. Dan was inducted into the Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame in 1998.

Dan and Bunny travelled extensively throughout their marriage, and shared numerous adventures with their many friends.

A Memorial Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at McDougall United Church, 10086 Macdonald Drive, Edmonton.
