Hugh Kent, beloved husband Shirley, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 one month before his 90 th birthday.

Left to mourn his loss are his children: Doris (John) McIvor and their children, Shelagh, Andrea (Mike) Metcalfe and Ian; Karen (Richard) Douziech and their children, Sarah (Kenton) Gilchrist and Jeffrey (Ingrid); Douglas (Laurie) and their daughter Nicola; Lauralee (Glenn) Swanson and their children Jackie (Brennan) Campbell, Ross, Clay and Bonnie; six great-grandchildren; brothers: Jack (Denise), Mac (Sheila) and Jim (Shirley); as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Hugh grew up in the Marwayne area. He taught in the Edmonton Public School System for 25 years. He was a Mason for over 50 years and was dedicated to furthering the success of the Higher Education Bursary Fund. His interests included hunting, fishing, astronomy and geology. He was a scientist and life-long-learner who always valued a good debate. Hugh spent many happy summers with his family at their lake lot.

The family would like to thank the E.M.T.’S and the medical team of the Neurosciences Units at the University of Alberta Hospital for all of their care and consideration. Special thank you to Hugh’s family doctor, Dr. Neuls.

A Celebration of Hugh’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Free Masons Hall, 10318-100 Avenue, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Higher Education Bursary Fund, 330-12 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB, T2R 0H2.
