Phyllis was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, Baba, Great Baba, friend.

Born in Edmonton to Mary (Kohut) and William Kobyluk, Mom grew up in the Highlands after spending a year on her Baba and Guido’s farm when her father died. She attended MacTavish Business College where proficient organizational skills prepared her for her career working for such Edmonton notables as Ross Sheppard; with "The Americans" in Ft Nelson building the Alaska Highway, Kingsway Hatchery and her enjoyable tenure at Westlawn Junior High School until she retired at age 63.

She met and married the love of her life Lloyd at Waterous Ltd and they had a wonderful 47 year marriage. Mom loved to read, play games, attend theatre, watch sports on TV, follow politics and go camping. Most of all she loved her family. The last 5 ½ years at the Waterford reinvigorated Mom. She participated in many of the events and frequently said how happy she was living there.

Mom was a kind soul – thoughtful, generous, friendly, and ever engaged in the world. We will miss her.

She was predeceased by husband Lloyd and newborn son Gregg.

Left to remember her with love are her children Mary (Neil), Karen, and Carl (Anna); grandchildren Bill (Emily), John, Alex, Mandy (Jay), Elizabeth and great granddaughter Marion; sister Betty Krysa; sister-in-law Audrey (Bob) Symons; nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Special thanks to Bob and Audrey for the many adventures they took Mom on and Al and Faye Giese for making her part of their card evenings up until she died.

A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton with Reverend Audrey Brooks officiating.
