It is with profound sadness that we announce the recent passing of Jeanette Florence; a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and mentor. She died peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeanette is survived by her loving family, husband of 44 years, Wayne; daughter, Michella (Brenden Rapaich); cherished grandchildren, Cole and Brooke; brother, John Wong (Jan) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanette was predeceased by her mother, Vivian and father, Wing Yeun.

A graduate of the Faculty of Nursing at UBC, in 1967, Jeanette moved to Edmonton, married and began a nursing career in Alberta that spanned over the past four decades.

She will always be remembered as a compassionate educator whose impact on the lives of countless students and colleagues cannot be measured. Jeanette’s passion for nursing education was shared with the countless students and staff that she mentored at the RAH, UAH, Norwood Continuing Care Centre, Salem Manor and most recently at Grant MacEwan University.

Her family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at the Cross Cancer Institute, Misericordia Hospital and St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital, including Doctors Rose Stepanko and Datar.
