It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Drynan announces his passing on February 14, 2012, at the age of 82. Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Louise; son Derek; daughter Leanne (Mark Malcolm); daughter Lavonne (Curtis McNabb); grandchildren Chelsea (Anicete Almeida), Ashley (Dustin Mason), Sean, Katelyn, Kimberly, Megan and Colin; great grandsons Matteo, Angelo and Alessio and mother-in-law Kathleen Prather. Jim also leaves behind his brothers Lorne (Gerry), Gilbert (Rose), Lincoln (Karen), sister-in-law Ruth, and numerous in laws, nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his infant son James Gordon; his parents, Gordon and Minnie; an infant brother Gordon; and his brother Aubrey. Jim was a gentleman, and a gentle man. He lived a life of honour, honesty, integrity, love and respect. The family extends sincere appreciation to Dr. Belch and staff at the Cross Cancer Institute; Doctors and nursing staff (especially Cliff) at the University Hospital, Unit 3E2; and Angie, Velma and others from Strathcona Homecare for their compassionate care and support provided at this difficult time. Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, c/o the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710-10123 - 99 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5J 3H1. Cremation has taken place and internment will follow in the spring. A Memorial Service will be held at Ottewell United Church, 6611 - 93A Avenue, Edmonton, AB, on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00 am.
