Madeline Frances Pape

In Loving Memory of

Madeline Frances Pape

(Maiden: Buckles)
of Edmonton
Oct 1, 1922 - Oct 22, 2011

Madeline will be cherished and lovingly remembered by Alfred, her husband of 59 years; daughter, Gwen Bentley; sons, David (Cynthia) and Rodger (Karol); grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda, Daniel and Michael; sister, Joyce Jones of Toronto; brother-in-law, Bert (Elli) and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brother, Arthur (in infancy); sisters, Iris Lipinski and Agnes Buckles-Borchert; and parents Gustav and Olga Buckles. Madeline had a distinguished teaching career and won the affection and respect of her students in Roundup, West Jasper Place, Wetaskiwin and Inglewood Elementary in Edmonton. After her marriage to Alfred they lived in Edmonton for a short time. Then moved to Calgary where after a rather lengthy hiatus, she resumed teaching kindergarten. The family returned to Edmonton and lived in the Winterburn area and Madeline returned to substitute teaching at Winterburn School. She often mentioned her students and the staff she worked with and fondly recalled her teaching days. She was unsurpassed as a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed.
