Dawn Shaw

In Loving Memory of

Dawn Shaw

If depth of grief is a measure of the love we have for those who've passed, there can be none deeper than that of this time.

On Thursday, November 9th, 2023, Mrs. Dawn Michele Shaw passed unexpectedly but peacefully at home.

In 1999, Dawn Michele Scott and Aaron Cameron Shaw were married in Windsor, Ontario, by Rev. Melvin Freeman Sr., Dawn's relative. After moving to Edmonton, the bonds between the couple grew, and they had the privilege of seeing their three children grow: Nicole, Eric, and Mallery. Like flourishing vines/olive shoots around the table (Psalm 128:3) and a quiver full of arrows in the hand of a warrior (Psalm 127:3-5), nine grandchildren became part of Dawn's legacy.

Dawn was one of nine children, predeceased in 2006 by the eldest, Cheryl Lyn; as well as their mother, Mary Louise, in 1989. Four sisters and three brothers now cherish her memory: Rachel, Harlan, Michael, Monte, Stacey, Tracey, and Crystal; in addition to the father of the 9, George. Her absence will deeply be felt both by family of similar DNA to hers, as well as by many whose DNA isn't as similar, but who are undeniably family, nonetheless.

When holding or playing with a baby or child, Dawn couldn't be happier. Finding new ways to bring joy to someone was something she did time and time again. Despite the many health trials she endured, she never gave into despair. When anyone came to her with something, there was no question of having her complete and undivided attention, and if resolution to an issue could not be achieved, it was never due to lack of effort on her part.

A Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023, at Connelly- McKinley Downtown Funeral Home., 10011-114 Street NW. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 16th, 2023, at Cornerstone United Reformed Church, 11610 95A Street, with Rev. William Pols officiating. Livestream of the service will be available through the Church website. Interment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery, 10132 163 Street, Edmonton.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."

Psalm 91:1-2
