In Loving Memory of

Maxine Goss

(Maiden: MacDonald)
of Edmonton, Alberta
Jun 12, 1932 - Jun 26, 2023

It is with profound sadness but hearts full of love that we announce the passing of Maxine Elizabeth Goss. She passed away peacefully on June 26, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 91. She was a strong woman of faith and is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Raymond Goss (Ray), who passed away in 2015.

Maxine was born in Westlock, Alberta on June 12, 1932. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Margaret and Nicholas Kozakewich. She was the eldest of two children and is survived by her younger brother, John MacDonald.

Maxine met Ray, the love of her life, in Seba Beach, Alberta in 1951 when she reached over to grab a marshmallow from the floor of her car and accidentally wound up in the ditch. Ray, a strapping young man and her knight in shining armor, stopped and rescued her. They began dating shortly thereafter. Ray and Maxine were married in 1953 at Highlands United Church in Edmonton, Alberta. They had four boys - Barry (Donna) was born in 1956, Douglas (Joanne) in 1958, Donald (Laurie) in 1960 and Randall (Fay) in 1968.

After purchasing a property on Lake Wabamun in 1972, Ray built the family cabin which became known simply as "the lake." Many summers were spent enjoying the lake together and Wabamun will always be a special place for the Goss family and their furry, four-legged friends with endless memories to look back on. Ray and Maxine had four beautiful dogs together: Tippy, Barney, Tikki & Maui. Maxine was an avid water skier, and you could still catch her out on the water going for a loop up until she was in her 70s.

Ray and Maxine also enjoyed many trips to Maui, Hawaii over the years and attended church at the Keawala'i Congregational Church whenever they were there. After Ray passed, Maxine travelled to Maui several more times with family and loved ones. Maui is another place that will always hold a special spot in the hearts of the Goss family.

To her eleven grandchildren, Maxine was Gram. From eldest to youngest, they are Gordon (Marta), Kevin (Michelle), Lauren (Matt), Amanda (Scott), Cameron (Sydney), Julia (Jodie), Michael (Bethany), Kaley (Barrett), Karly, Brittany & Jenna. Each grandchild held a piece of Gram's heart, and she will always remain in theirs. She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren: Liliana, William, Cooper, Amelia, Makena, James, Leo, & Olivia.

In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, can be made to the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education. This is a program Maxine was passionate about supporting and actively involved with for many years.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Maxine's life on Thursday, July 13th , 2023 at 11 a.m. in Robertson-Wesley United Church located at 10209 123 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 1N3.

Arrangements entrusted to Foster & McGarvey Downtown Funeral Home.
