In Loving Memory of

Afke "Anne" Castaing

of Edmonton

 

On May 28, 2023, Afke Castaing, our beloved mother, friend, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 93.

She was very loved and the stories we share keep her forever in our hearts and memories. She will be missed dearly by her daughters: Thea Zielke and children Peter (Gabriella), Alyssa (Christopher), Chris (Lucy), Julie (Tommy), Paul, Kathy, and Mari; Lise Woodman (Dan) and children Luke (Alyssa), Tess (Mike), and Meg; and Marg Tomkins-Debolt (Fred) and children Russell (Karen), Mitchell, and Nikki; together with 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson! Her sister, Grace Van Kooten-Dykink lives in Edmonton (children: Kees, Terri, and Randy).

She dearly loved her family and was always there for them.

Afke was born April 29, 1930, in Indyjk, the Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada from Hilversum in 1957 with her husband, Peter, and her two daughters, Lise and Thea. Several years later, her youngest daughter, Marg, was born. She also has a sister, Geri, and a brother, Tye, as well as nieces and a nephew in the Netherlands.

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; her brother, Kees Van Der Kooij; granddaughter-in-law, Jill Tomkins; two grandchildren, Jonni and Nick Zielke; and sister-in-law, Pietsie Van Der Kooij Atsma.

The family is having a Private gathering in celebration of her life.
