On Friday, March 10, 2023, the Lord called Johanna home from this earthly life at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family.

She is reunited with her husband, Dirk; sister Helene Bakker; and parents, Hendrik, and Johanna Herstel (nee Post)

She will be forever in the hearts of her children, Joanne (Clarence) Zeldenrust, Winnie, Len (Joanne), Henry, Brian (Torrie); 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bep Arnold-Herstel and Ali (Arie) Nelemans-Herstel; numerous relatives and friends.

Johanna was born in Delft, Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1954. Throughout her life she held a deep Christian faith and was a devoted member and contributor to her church. She served on the local Manna Committee, with the Canadian Reformed World Relief Fund for more than twenty years.

She was a devoted daughter and sister, loving wife and mother, and treasured Oma to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her boterkoek and cooking, her impeccable garden, her effortless gift of "making a little chat" and engaging with people wherever she went. She met weekly with friends for coffee, and adventures. Johanna loved aquasize and attended faithfully for many years.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Pilgrims Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Providence Canadian Reformed Church, 12905 - 122 Ave NW, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pilgrims Hospice Society or to the Canadian Reformed World Relief Fund.
