Lydia Reichert

In Loving Memory of

Lydia Reichert

(Maiden: Ries)
of Provost, Alberta

With cherished memories and grateful hearts for a life well lived, the family of Lydia announces her passing on March 8, 2023 at the age of 102. Lydia had a smile that was infectious even in her last years when communication became difficult. Her greatest source of strength was her deep and abiding faith.

She was predeceased by her husband Tony in 2017, after 71 years of marriage. She will be sadly missed and remembered by her daughters, Sylvia (Dan), Janet (Phil) and Eileen (Rick); four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Born in Provost, Alberta, she was the youngest of a family of six and was the last remaining sibling. She married Tony on April 4, 1945. Shortly after, they moved to Victoria where Tony was stationed in the army. After he was discharged, they moved back to Alberta where they settled on a farm in Compeer for six years. Following that, they farmed in the Provost and Wainwright area for approximtely 20 years and later they moved into the town of Provost. In 1984 they moved to Horizon Village in St. Albert to be near their daughters and later to Ironwood Estates where they again expanded their circle of friends. Due to declining health, Lydia moved to Eaux Claires Extendicare in Edmonton where she lived for almost 5 years until her passing.

Her days at Eaux Claires were brightened byher loving caregivers who she always greeted with a cooperative spirit. We would like to thank the staff at Eaux Claires Extendicare who cared for Mom in the final chapter of her life.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 75 Poirier Ave, St. Albert, AB.
