Obituary

James Cupido

In Loving Memory of

James Cupido

On February 14, 2023, Jim went to sleep in the Lord, where he awaits the trumpet call of his Lord, whom he loved and trusted.

Bernice, his wife of 69 years; and children, Barbara (Aurie), Sidney, and Wesley (Jenny); all mourn his passing. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Chris, Lauren, Francis, Alisha, and Stephan; and six great-grandchildren: Sophia, Mya, Olivia, Izabelle, Evelina, and Hannah.

Born in the Netherlands, Jim came from a large family, with one sister and seven brothers. Pete, Andy, Grace, Fred, Matthew, and John survive him. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by brothers Neil and Martin; and Granddaughters, Aurelia and Michaela.

In 1950, Jim immigrated to Ontario, on his own, at the age of 19. He met Bernice, and the day after they married, in 1953, they came to Edmonton.

Jim enjoyed music, and with his violin always nearby, he was eager to play at a moment's notice. He was also an avid gardener and an accomplished artist.

Over the years, Jim spent many hours volunteering with a variety of organizations; Canadian Blood Services, Pilgrims Hospice, and the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, among others. He leaves many friends through his volunteering.

Private Interment, followed by Memorial Service on Tuesday, February 21, at 2:00 p.m. at West End Christian Reformed Church 10015 - 149 Street Edmonton.

Jim's family is grateful for the compassionate care he received at Grandview Long Term Care.
