In Loving Memory of

Gwendolyn Sloane

Dec 20, 2020

It is with sadness the family of Gwen Sloane (nee Harris) announce her passing on December 20, 2020, at the age of 96. Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Madeline Muir; grandsons, Bryan (Barb) and David (Donalea) Muir; granddaughters, Karen (Scott) Wilson and Cathy (Wade) Brakstad; great-grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Muir, Nathan and Nicole Muir, Meghan and Mandy Wilson, and Mark and Jodie Brakstad; and step-great-granchildren, Ashley (Bryce) Miller and Ryan Wiebe. She also leaves to mourn her loss many nieces and nephews whom she was very fond of, and sisters-in-law, Ava, Thelma and Norma Harris.

Gwen was predeceased by her loving husband Leslie in 1992; parents, Madeline and Jim Harris; brothers, Clayton, Donald and Kenneth; sisters, Marjorie Baker and Bernice Stone; and her son-in-law, Gordon Muir.

Gwen was born and raised in the town of Minnedosa, Manitoba, where she eventually met and married Leslie. In 1945 the two moved to Edmonton. Family was Gwen’s passion, and over the many years after leaving Minnedosa she maintained close contact with her family. Her grandchildren, in particular, have always been the light of her life, and they have shared many meaningful moments and have many wonderful memories to cherish.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sherwood Care for the kindness and compassion they have given Gwen over the past three years. We are very fortunate that she was in such good care.

Due to Covid, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a favorite charity or Sherwood Care Nursing Home, in memory of Gwen.
