KOLKMAN, Johanna (Hannie) December 9, 1928, Borculo, Netherlands – December 6, 2020, Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Johanna has passed from our care into the arms of her heavenly Father. We rejoice that she is at peace.

Johanna Heideman was born the eighth of ten children near Borculo, in the "Gelderlandse Achterhoek of Nederland." She married Engbert (Bert) Kolkman in 1952, after which they immigrated to Canada, and after several years of working on other farms, they bought their own farm near Uncas, Alberta. Johanna worked tirelessly to raise eight children, maintain the family home, help with the farm work, and contribute to the Cooking Lake Ladies Aid Society (bid & werk). In 1992 two sons bought the farm and Bert and Hannie retired to Edmonton.

Several years after Engbert’s passing in 2007, she moved to the Emmanuel Home in Edmonton and later to Capital Care Strathcona in Sherwood Park. Johanna is survived by seven children: Gary (Carolyn), John (Kate), Bernie (Mary Ann), Joyce (John), Paul, Eric, and Annette (Lawrence), 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughter-in-law Laurel (Paul) and son Brian. Johanna held deep convictions for the teachings and ministries of the Church and Christian Education.

Donations in her memory can be made to The King’s University, Edmonton, Alberta.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private burial will take place at Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Sherwood Park.

A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heritage House (Capital Care Strathcona) who looked after Johanna in her final years.

She was dearly loved by all.
