In Loving Memory of

Derek Schreiber

of Edmonton
Aug 26, 2020

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that the family of Derek Brian Schreiber announces his sudden and unexpected passing on August 26th, 2020.

Derek had just celebrated his 29th anniversary working for the Christian Labour Association of Canada, in the position of Provincial Representative. He was a passionate man of God and was widely loved by those who knew him.

He had a big personality and an even larger heart, as well as a fantastic sense of humour. He generously shared his talents and time through his musical and technical abilities, most frequently amongst his church community.

Derek is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Jane; children, Katherine (Adam) Zacharuk and Benjamin Schreiber; parents Bertus and Alice Schreiber; siblings, Sylvia (Tymen) Van Stryland, Martha Schreiber (Shiao Chong), and John Schreiber; brother-in-law Albert den Otter (Krista); sister-in-law Alice den Otter (Steve); 3 nephews, 5 nieces, 2 great-nephews and 1 great-niece. He was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Jacob and Tieny den Otter, and his brother-in-law, James den Otter.

Derek will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by countless extended family, friends, church community and colleagues alike, as well as the many members he served.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home (10011 114 Street NW, Edmonton AB), and a Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at West End Christian Reformed Church (10015 149 St, Edmonton AB) – Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space will be limited. If you wish to attend in person, requests can be made by contacting the church office at admin@westendcrc.ca. The Memorial Service will also be available via livestream through the church’s website (www.westendcrc.ca).
