On June 1, 2020, Hazel Lamont passed away peacefully at the age of 94 – just shy of her 95th birthday.

Hazel was the cherished wife of the late Bob Lamont. Hazel is survived by her sons Rich (Michele) Lamont and Gary (Carol) Lamont; daughter Laurie (Ned) Lorincz; eight grandchildren Jeff (Bronwyn), Kailey, Jessica, Peter, Bobby, Ashley, Emily, and Danny; brother Doug (Ruth) McNern; nieces Norah, Joan, Nancy, Ann; nephew Rob; numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins.

Hazel was predeceased by her brothers Gordon and Bob McNern; and nephew Andre.

Hazel was always busy; she was a charter member of the Trinity United Church and spent many years volunteering on various church boards especially as President of the United Church Women’s group. Throughout her life, Hazel enjoyed nothing more than visiting with her family and friends and could often be found in her kitchen, baking and cooking for those she loved – her apple pies were a particular crowd-pleaser.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tomcej and the nurses and staff of Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre and express our appreciation for the compassionate care that Hazel received for the last 2 years and especially in her final days.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. A private family interment will occur in the near future in the Wall of Remembrance at the Northern Lights Cemetery in Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Good Samaritan Society, 9649-71 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T6E 5J2; www.gss.org or a charity of your choice.
