It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Mary Lunn announces her passing on October 6, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Elizabeth is lovingly remembered by her children: Chris (Wendy), Jennifer (Kim), Nicholas (Jackie), Phil (Christina), Barbara (Colin); her sister, Anne; and 13 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas; brothers, Peter, Michael and Andrew; and grandson, Matthew. Elizabeth was born in Totley, Derbyshire, England and became a Registered Nurse at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London after completion of the Nightingale Training School for Nurses. While practicing at their field hospital in Surrey, she met a young doctor, Douglas Lunn, whom she married in 1956. After living in several towns in England and Canada, they finally settled in Edmonton and raised five children. Elizabeth’s Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life and she was an active and devout member of St. Paul’s and later Christ Church, Anglican churches since arriving in Edmonton in 1963. Elizabeth was also accomplished at sewing and knitting, was active in the sports of curling, cross-country skiing and hiking, and enjoyed vacations with her husband and children in the mountains of Canada for many years. Above all else, Elizabeth was devoted to her family and dedicated herself selflessly to her children and grandchildren throughout her life. She was dearly loved and we will miss her greatly but we are comforted knowing she will be in eternal peace and still watching over us. A Service will be held at Christ Church, 12116-102 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Donations may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the charity of your choice.
