of Edmonton
Dec 2, 2018

It is with great sadness we announce that Anita Christine Konken (née Abma), passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Anita’s joy in life was being a mother, devoted wife and best friend. Anita lived her life with great passion, was vivacious, dedicated and selfless to all that she encountered. She not only touched the lives of many family, friends and co-workers; she enriched them and will be deeply missed.

Anita will be forever lovingly remembered by her best friend and husband of 27 years, Jamie; son, Andrew (Melissa); daughter, Lauren; her mother Frieda; and her siblings, Heather (Stan) and Richard (Kristin), as well as their families for whom she was a proud and loving aunt. She will be deeply missed by nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and her many friends in Edmonton, Maple Ridge, Burlington and in the United States.

She was predeceased by her father, Ruurd Abma.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre, the Vascular Ward at Mississauga Trillium, to caregivers Anna, Ava, Beverley, Joel, Lee-way and Norma as well as numerous others for the care and support they provided to Anita on her journey.

As per Anita’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 10th, at 2pm at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 114th Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Anita are asked to please consider the Canadian Cancer Society.
