In Loving Memory of

John Holliday

of North Vancouver
Jun 15, 1962 - Aug 2, 2018

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of John E. Holliday, who unexpectedly died on August 1, 2018. Predeceased by his parents Bob and Leona Holliday, He was born in New Westminster on June 15, 1962 and is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Wendy Warwick, daughters’ Tina Warwick-Beaulieu, and Cheryl Holliday. He will be dearly missed by his brothers, Mike & Bill Holliday and many, many friends.

Summing up John’s life, we keep coming back to one thought. "Never will you meet a man who lived in the moments loving his family and enjoying the outdoors being carefree and easy going". He was a teacher of all things and his method was simple, he taught by example. John’s character is the foundation of our family values and his teachings were endless.

John was self-made and self-reliant from his career of 37 years working for BC Rail, and then CN RAIL; over his career piece by piece he learned every aspect of the railway and was a strong, relentless leader in the union. A family man that built his life on the railroads across BC, and in the union across Canada, along the way he had many lifelong friends and connections to the communities he passed through. His smile and laughter were truly contagious and his wit and humour unmatched. His passion for history & writing was enriched by his travelling. He loved riding motorcycles, camping, listening to country, blues, and rock music, scuba diving and family gatherings with friends; he had so many stories to share about his life experience. His legacy is his family and his connection to so many people who knew of him that it is a "small world".

A celebration of life service will be held on August 30, 2018, at 2:00 pm Chief Joe Mathias Centre, 100 Capilano Road North Vancouver, BC. Online condolences can be found at www.fostermcgarvey.com
