Frank Koning of Edmonton, born December 6, 1923 in Amsterdam, passed peacefully to his eternal home on Sunday, March 18, 2018.

He leaves behind his children John (Helen) of Calgary, Jack (Sieglinde) of Abbotsford, BC, Ed (Marlene) of Edmonton; eight grandchildren and their spouses, thirteen great-grandchildren and many relatives in The Netherlands. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Audrey in 2009, and two grandchildren, Kevin and Julia.

He leaves his family with a lifetime of wonderful memories, always enjoying his role as husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Frank enjoyed life to the fullest with his sense of humour and his cheerful personality. He always enjoyed being near the water, sharing his love of swimming and sailing with his boys, and later with his grandkids. They all remember great times at "the Cabin". He was also a master with wood-working, and was a talented handyman, blessing many with his gifts.

A time of visitation with family is scheduled for Friday, April 13 at 7 p.m. at the Waterford of Summerlea, 9395 - 172 St NW, Edmonton, Frank's last home.

A Memorial Service celebrating Frank’s life will be held Saturday April 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home Downtown Edmonton at 10011-114 Street.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful folks at the Waterford, to the nurses and care-givers who so lovingly cared for Frank through his last years and for good friends who visited him to the end.
