In Loving Memory of

Maxine Bassani

(Maiden: Young)
of Edmonton, AB
Dec 2, 1934 - Mar 23, 2018

On March 23, 2018, Maxine passed away following a long battle with Alzheimer’s, and ultimately a stroke. She is survived by her exceptional husband, of 62 years, Elmer; her children, Duane (Rita), Cori (Bonnie), Loray (Jason), Liana (Dennis); along with grandchildren, Ryan (Emilly) and Scott (Nicole). Maxine was the youngest of 5 children. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Skode and Laverne Krogh; and sisters in law, Mary Young and Kit Young. Maxine is predeceased by her parents, Roderick and Ellen Young; along with brothers, Kenneth, Gordon and Rod. Maxine grew up in the Barrhead area before getting married and moving to Edmonton, where she lived for the rest of her life. Maxine was a loving mother and an extremely hard working woman. She was the woman in front of the man, helping to establish one of Edmonton's long standing businesses, Cliffs Towing Service Ltd. They worked side by side from 1956 until her retirement, from a business that never closed. She balanced the rigors of a 24 / 7 business while still providing for her family. She was an excellent cook and homemaker, enjoyed interior decorating, travelling, and the occasional glass of red wine. Elmer and Maxine really enjoyed spending time in Arizona, only wishing there had been more time. The family would like to thank the various caregivers who provided exemplary care for Maxine for the past years. Most notably, Susan Gagarin, Vivian Fernandez, Donna Paraton and Juvylyn Delos Reyes.
