Linnie Chamberlin

In Loving Memory of

Linnie Chamberlin

of Edmonton
Dec 13, 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce Linnie's passing. Linnie is survived by her dearly loved children: Robin Sherritt, Cathy Bliault (Darrell), John Purnell and Heather Hlady; her grandson, Alex (Samantha); her siblings: Doris Gorrell, Bill Eaglesham and Jeanne Tulp, and their families; Chuck’s family and extended Chinese families and her incredible legion of cherished and beloved friends: including her work colleagues, especially Anne; her aquasize family at the Kinsmen; fellow political activists, including the Raging Grannies; and her amazing and supportive neighbours, who acted as our Mom’s guardian angels, ensuring that she could safely stay in her home.

Linnie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles (Chuck) Chamberlin, in 2003; her parents, John and Norma; and her aunts, Margaret and Anne.

Linnie was first and foremost a tireless voice and advocate for medical care, social justice, women’s rights and the environment and, over her lifetime, Linnie was not only devoted to family, but also to the countless friendships and kinships she cultivated in her work in Nursing, which she absolutely loved to practice and teach; the philanthropic work she did for organizations too many to mention; her volunteer work with the NDP and her advocacy for environmental issues, including earning her Master Composter certification and maintaining and educating others on how to have a pesticide-free garden.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pleasantview Community League Hall, 10860 – 57 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. If you have any photos or memories to share, please bring them to the service.

Linnie’s family extends their deepest gratitude for the incredible, compassionate, and responsive care provided to our Mom by Dr. Marc Bibeau, and all of his team, the Edmonton’s Palliative Home Care Unit and all the EMS Paramedics who cared for her during the week of December 11 to 13, 2017 at her home.

Our world has lost one of its greatest caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA to honour our Mom’s love of her dogs.
