In Loving Memory of

Bernard Lang

of Edmonton
Nov 16, 2017

On November 16, beloved husband and father, Bernard Albert Lang, passed away in Edmonton, Alberta. He was the loving husband of Mathilde Jenny Lang; they shared 37 years together.

Born in Surakarta, Indonesia, he was the son of Eduarda van Dissel and James Lang. He graduated from the University of Birmingham in Chemical Engineering and furthered his education at Harvard University. He was involved in many oil and gas ventures; his longest career being with Suncor Energy and, most recently, with the Institute of Corporate Directors. He was a member of the Freemasons Society, the Shriners, and an educator with the Institute of Corporate Directors. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness, his philanthropy, his ambitious nature, and most of all, his love of his family. His life was enriched by his relationships with his wonderful friends, colleagues, and family. He is survived by his adoring wife, Mathilde Lang; his sons, Jim and Ralph; his daughter, Liselotte; and his two dogs, Benjamin and Bentley. He has left an enduring legacy for us all and we hope we can continue making him proud.

A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Robertson-Wesley United Church, 10209 123 Street NW, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bert’s memory to the Hope Mission, or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
