Jean Hirst

In Loving Memory of

Jean Hirst

(Maiden: Riddle)
of Edmonton, Alberta
May 30, 1931 - Aug 22, 2017

On August 22, our beloved Mom, Jean, passed away peacefully surrounded by many of her family.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Jean was the youngest child and only daughter of William and Jens Riddle. Moving to Edmonton with her family in her younger years, she made new friends, many of whom remained her friends for life. The first time Jean met Mike, she declared he was the man she was going to marry, and they married in 1952. He lovingly called her Riddle, and over 58 years together they raised a family and shared the many gifts life brought them.

Jean was a woman of vitality, warmth and wit. She was a talented watercolor artist and produced many beautiful works of art that hang in the homes of her children and friends. Jean displayed great spirit and resilience while living with dementia in her final years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jane (Ron), Barb (Rick), Val (Gary), Tom (Yvette) and Pat (Richard); grandchildren: Devon (Pam), Braden (Tiffany), Lucas (Katelyn), Macy (Evan), Michael, Ben, Sally (Wayne), Sarah, Bobby, Scott, Robyn, Lindsay and Will and 3 great grandsons: Hudson, Sawyer and Milo; sisters-in-law, Elaine and Irene; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Mike in 2010; her parents and brothers, Bill, Dick and Ken.

We will miss our sweet Mom. She smiled easily and broadly. She loved a hearty laugh – hers and others.

We welcome you to join us in celebrating Jean’s life on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 10127 – 145 Street, Edmonton.
