In Loving Memory of

Helmut Schroer

of Edmonton
Jun 2, 1928 - Jul 28, 2017

On Friday, July 28th at 11:25 p.m. MST, my Father, Helmut Schroer, died peacefully... surrounded by love and dreams for his new journey... of soul flight... of reading all the books in the libraries of Alexandria... and finding out if there really is a 12th planet. We stayed with him until my brother arrived to accompany him to the next realm. May it be all you hoped for and more, my beloved Dad. I loved you... I love you... and I miss you... now and forever. Thank you for loving my Mother and giving me a world where anything was possible.

Born in Germany, he arrived in Canada in the early 50's. Alone. No family, no money and not a word of English... but, after meeting his future wife, he became the first adult student at Victoria Composite High School and went on to U of A and subsequently to teach art and other subjects (including English!) at many high schools and junior highs within the EPSB.

A fine landscape artist, he specialized in realistic Alberta landscape. He mounted many one-man shows, and his work hangs in wonderful collections worldwide.

He has joined his beloved son, Christopher John. He is loved still - on this earth - by his wife of 60 years, Winifred and daughter Catherine (Stephen) Lehman née Schroer as well as Winifred's sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

His empathy and capacity for the love and protection of all living things was an example that anyone with a heart could look up to.
