‘Tony’ passed away peacefully in his home on March 11, 2017 at the age of 100, with his wife Lydia at his side.

He will be remembered by his wife, Lydia of 71 years; daughters, Sylvia Hartley (Dan), Janet Mackell (Phil) and Eileen Mackell (Rick); four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Born in Bodo, Alberta, he was the 5th of 10 children and grew up in the Macklin/Cosine Area. He served in the Army from 1942-1946. Tony and Lydia were married on April 4, 1945 and after being discharged from the Army, they settled on a farm in Compeer where they lived for six years. Following that, they farmed in the Provost and Wainwright area for approximately 20 years, after which he retired from farming and worked for Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance as an adjuster for six years. In 1984 they moved to Horizon Village in St. Albert and later to Ironwood Estates in St. Albert until his passing.
