In Loving Memory of

Kenneth Gilfillan

of Edmonton
Nov 17, 2016

With great sadness we announce the passing of Kenneth Gilfillan, who died peacefully on November 17, at the age of 89.

He was predeceased by his parents James and Emma; brother Vern; and sister-in-law Evelyn. Ken is survived by his brother Jim (Carol) Gilfillan; nieces and nephews, Nadine Gilfillan (Don Pearson), Cameron (Darlene) Gilfillan, Scott Gilfillan, Darcie (Colin) Fred and Lisa (Lee) Foreman; and six great- nieces and nephews.

Ken was born in Edmonton and, growing up in the 40's, developed a love for the music of the "Big Band Era" which he carried with him throughout his life. With a keen mind and entrepreneurial spirit, Ken found early success in the Food Broker business where he founded Seven Cities Foods. He was an avid golfer and active member of the Edmonton Golf and Country Club for over 50 years, earning him an Honorary Lifetime membership in his later life. Whether you referred to him as brother, uncle or friend, one of the most significant roles in Ken's life was that of Santa Claus. Ken spent many Christmas Eves dressed in his Santa suit delivering gifts and food to Edmonton's less fortunate, as well as many friends and family. The tradition continues on to this day thanks to his leadership.

There will be no service in keeping with Ken's wishes.

In lieu of flowers, Ken's family requests that donations be made to Santa's Anonymous.
