Obituary

Ian Dalziel

In Loving Memory of

Ian Dalziel

of Edmonton
Jul 11, 1935 - Nov 8, 2016

Ian Leonard Dalziel of Edmonton, and late of Gibbons/Redwater AB, Inuvik NWT, and East Kilbride, Scotland leaves behind his much devoted wife May, son Craig (Kathy - Leh Ti) Dalziel and daughter Lisa (Vern) Paul, and granddaughters Alix and Elie. Also in Alberta is Ian’s brother-in-law and business partner Gilbert (Jackie) McCormick. Overseas is Ian’s brother Alan as well as numerous cousins in Scotland, and his cousin Dal in New Zealand. Ian is predeceased by his siblings Margaret and David.

Ian very much enjoyed his National Service in the Royal Air Force, and the 18 months he spent as an Air Radar Mechanic working on the Sunderland Flying Boats with the 205/209 Squadron at Seletar Air Force Base in Singapore, helping in the fight against the communist terrorist incursion of the Malayan Emergency (1946-1960).

May and Ian loved their sailing days on Cold Lake and the cruises, bus tours, and train trips they took.

Ian wishes to give thanks to his family doctor, S. Toal and his Alberta Palliative Home Care team, and for the past 11 years, the staff at the G.F. MacDonald Centre for Lung Health at the General Hospital.

He reluctantly says good-bye to his friends at the Sequence, Scottish Country, and Les Amies dancing clubs, as well as the Edmonton Lawn Bowlers.

Lastly, but by no means least, there are his special friends who’ve had their last hugs from Ian.

A Celebration of Ian’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the G. F. MacDonald Centre for Lung Health.
