Donald Lynem

In Loving Memory of

Donald Lynem

of Edmonton
Sep 7, 1930 - Sep 20, 2016

Don was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and passed away in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 86 years.

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Mary of 64 years; daughters Tammi (Martin Bauer) and Shelley; grandsons Marc and Liam Buckley and Jesse Bauer; as well as many family members and friends. Don was predeceased by his parents John Henry and Rose Ann, sisters Marie Summers and Irene Swain/Hull, and brother John Clarence Lynem.

Don retired in 1986 after a long career with Syncrude Canada and Imperial Oil Ltd. He was a long time member of the Esso Annuitant Club of Edmonton and for many years served on the Board. In his younger years, he competed at a high level in swimming, diving, basketball and hockey. His love for sports continued throughout his life as he continued to golf, bowl and curl through his retirement years. With his wife Mary, he was often seen cheering his grandsons on at their many sporting events and following them to places as far away as Indiana and Michigan and to the frigid arenas of Pierceland and Goodsoil, Saskatchewan. Don was an avid builder and could build just about anything including boats, a cabin, and so much more. He was a man of many talents and in his 80’s wrote his life story. His infectious smile and gentle nature were known to all. The Lord truly blessed us with someone so incredible to love and we will cherish him beyond life’s end. In accordance with Don’s wishes, a private gathering will be held in celebration of a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mustard Seed or Hope Mission.
