Robert James "Bob" Crawford passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Born in Edmonton July 8, 1929, he is lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Joan; children, Maureen (Dave Oudshoorn), Anne (Neil Sharkey), Linda (Bob Longworth) and Eric (Luzia Zemp) and eight grandchildren, Laura, Kieran and Liam Oudshoorn, Eleanor and Margo Crawford, David Sharkey and Jackson and Brianna Longworth.

Bob was a dedicated contributor to Alberta's science and technology community, through his research in organic chemistry, as an internationally recognized researcher and lecturer, and by supporting the efforts of others through administrative roles on local, provincial and national councils, committees, and academic journals. At the University of Alberta he served as professor of Chemistry, Chair of Chemistry and later Acting Chair of Computing Science, Associate and then Acting Dean of Science, and faculty representative on the University Board of Governors. His efforts helped bring Alberta's science and technology to the global stage.

A Memorial Service officiated by Reverend Brian Kiely will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Faculty Club of the University of Alberta, 11435 Saskatchewan Drive.
