It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Fowlis (nee Kells) of Edmonton, Alberta, who passed away peacefully after a brief illness with family by her side on February 10, 2015.

Arlene will be lovingly remembered by her four children, William (Leslie), Robert, Donald (Rhesa) all of Calgary, and Linda Spurr (James) of Edmonton; grandchildren David (Jesse), Allen, Janelle, Andrew and great-granddaughter Mia all of Calgary; brother Brian Kells and nieces Madeline Kells and Elaine Docteur (Dave) all of Winnipeg; former husband John Fowlis of Calgary; as well as extended family and many close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Dora Kells and sister-in-law Eunice Kells of Winnipeg.

Arlene was a wonderful mother and also touched many people in her life leaving behind a legacy of kindness, caring and contribution. She was an active volunteer and former church secretary at St. Andrew's United Church. Arlene enjoyed family gatherings, the symphony and theatre and travelling with friends. A celebration of Arlene's life will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 9915 148 Street, Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, February 21 at 1 p.m.

Our thanks go to the health care providers during Arlene's life and the medical staff at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton for their dedicated care of Arlene during her final days.
