I was very saddened to see Doc Young's obituary. I had such tremendous respect for both your Mom and Dad and was always touched by his kind manner and enjoyed so much his sense of humour. I know your family will take some time to recover from losing both of them in such a short time span. My heartfelt sympathies to you all. Nancy Sanborn

posted by Terry Carlyle : Dr. Young was one of my instructors in dental school in the early 70's. He embodied to me a true caring, skilled professional whom I had the pleasure of working with for many years looking after many of his patients with their orthodontic needs. Truly the embodiment of a scholar and a gentleman! Terry Carlyle : Jul 28, 2012

My wife Isobel & I started many years of wonderful care with Jack, back in 1956. Jack looked after our four childrens dental care, and kept all our family's teeth in great shape. Even after moving from Edmonton in 1966, we still returned to Jack for all our dental needs. Isobel & I are in our eighties, and our children all hovering on both sides of 60, and we still have all our teeth, which we believe is Thanks to Jack. Dental care reached its peak when Jack did the work. Thanks to a great man. Isobel & Don Clark

Dr. Jack Young was an amazing person. Though he was our family dentist, I always thought of him as a friend. He saw me through braces, wisdom teeth, university and marriage. His knowledgeable, gentle touch, warm smile and engaging conversation always made me feel welcomed and well cared for. He was the medical person I measured all other doctors against. His phenomenal memory always surprised me. Year after year, he'd chat with me about my family, my pets, the courses I was taking, by ball playing husband and my baby girl. Despite the months between our visits, Dr. Jack Young never missed a beat. He always made me feel very special. He will be sadly missed by all who were touched by him.

It isn't often you hear someone say they liked going to the dentist, but I did. Jack was a great friend to our family, understanding and considerate of our needs. His work allowed me to keep all my smile, regardless of how hard I tried to ruin it. Many a dentist could look into my mouth and know it was Jack's work...don't ask me how. We always had lots of interesting conversations, or at least Jack did all the talking while I just nodded in agreement, sitting there with my mouth open and frozen. I smile at those times. He was a fine man and a great dentist. He will be missed by all those he touched.

For many years I served as Executive Commissioner, Scouts Canada (Edmonton) and in this capacity became associated with Jack in his Scouting activities. He contributed significantly to the advancement of boys and young men through Scouting. He was respected for his leadership and was well liked by those he served. I also had contact with him in Rotary where he was equally well respected. I regret his passing and wish to convey to the family my sincerest condolences. Leaders of his calibre are few and far between and he will be deeply missed both in the Scout family and Rotary family. It is my prayer that the Great Scout above will sustain and support your family through these sad days and in the future. God bless ! Don Milne

Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. And what very fond memories, beginning in the early '60s, the Roskin and Chisholm families have of 'Dr. Young'. We were always treated professionally with a methodical, positive and caring manner, and personally with a genuine interest in the evolving personal lives of our respective families. Simply, a wonderful man! Sincere condolences to Bill, Eric and all the family. Craig & Joan (nee Chisholm) Roskin

The McBrides ( Gail , Boyd, Scott, Ian and Fraser) are all saddened to know that Jack and Irma are both gone now. Our parents, Ian and Elizabeth, loved them both and we did too. Many many happy memories of times spent over the years are going through our heads and hearts. Much love to you all.
