In Loving Memory of

John Armitage

of Edmonton, AB
Nov 25, 1930 - Feb 27, 2012

Dear Mrs. Armitage and family. I have just heard of Dr.Armitage's passing and wanted to send my condolences. I'm not sure if you remember me, but I live in Peace River and when I was 14 I had an eye injury and tht started my almost weekly visits with Dr.Armitage for several years. i enjoyed our visits during my what seemed like weekly eye exams. I am very greateful that he was practicing in Peace River at that time in my life and I am very greateful that he was able to savie my eye. I have thought of him fondly over the years. He was a very kind and gentle man.

Dear Maithe and family Sending my thoughts and prayers at this time. I knew John when I lived with and was working for the Lubicon Cree Nation in the 1990s. I was John's visiting committee when he applied for membership in Edmonton Quaker Meeting so had the gift of visiting and sharing with John as he took that step in his spiritual journey. Blessing surround you as you say good bye to John.

I will miss the wonderful discussions I had with John. He had an amazing range of knowledge and never seemed to forget the details. His spirit and compassion touched me deeply. We will miss his presence at Quaker Meetings for Worship he was always so cheerful and happy to be there. Peace be with you John Barb
posted by Barbara Heather : I am a member of the local Edmonton Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and first met John in about 1992 when I moved to Edmonton. When I returned to Meeting after some years of not attending, it was fun to meet up with John and resume our discussions. I also recall being quite shocked by his presence outside Farmers' Market with Women in Black! It was lovely although I still wonder how he did it because he was already becoming physically fragile. : Mar 02, 2012

Ron, myself, and Hannah(our dog) will miss John very much. When ever we were out walking our dog, and had seen John, John would always say hi to us, and especially greet Hannah with a smile, and a little pat. His words were always, is that you Hannah. "I believe John", always noticed Hannah first, then me. That was ok, as I know John had so much love for all animals, and especially dogs. He was such a kind, and sincere man. We were sorry to here of his passing.
