Very sad to hear about the sudden death after a long illness. I fondly remember working and partying with Dick esp at my retirement party from Government of Alberta. Sending love to the entire family. Mukund Mehta

My sympathy is extended to Bonnie and Dick??s entire family. He was a stalwart partner and reliable friend when we worked together at the Bureau. Dick was a complex man with a fascinating life story. He was a man who could always be counted on to get things done. He fervently insisted things be done to his high standards, and drove to get the best result. I relied on him every day we worked together. Dick had many interests and passions (sailing being one I remember) which he pursued with his particular intensity. He was a honest, trustworthy and honourable man. We lost touch as the years past, but I have always thought of him with much affection and respect. I will remember Dick as he is in this picture. That wry smile! That??s how I will forever remember Richard Steiner.

Bonnie we were so saddened to hear about Dick's passing. Although we lost touch over the years I remember with great fondness the time we work together at the Pubic Affairs Bureau. As part of the Executive Team, he played a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the Bureau through both challenging and successful times. We also became good friends. Even after Dick retired, we would catch up over a cold beer and laugh about the good times. He will be missed.

Dear Bonnie - Barb Deters kindly let me know about Dick's passing. I wanted to send my sincere condolences to you. Dick and I worked together for about seven years at the Public Affairs Bureau. He was a great guy to work with, and a strong leader on the technical side of the Bureau. I had heard of your marriage, and truly hope that it was a happy one, and that your memories will all be happy ones...it takes time but it seems you have lots of family and friends who are no doubt lending support. Take good care of yourself, Jane

Bonnie and Family, I am truly sorry to hear about Dick! When I first started at PAB he was very concerned to hear that I wanted to go skydiving?. So much so that he brought in some articles of past mishaps that had occurred to other people that he didn??t know? He did that out of concern for me and I will always remember how touched I was that someone would care enough to do that! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you! I truly believe you will meet again! ????????

Dear Bonnie and family, We are so sorry to hear of Dick??s passing. Dick was a thoughtful, intelligent man who, with the help of his family, bravely fought a tremendous battle. I remember him as a handsome, active, vibrant person. His interests were wide and his conversations and opinions lively and engaging. One memory we have of Dick was when we were visiting, our son was about 4 years old. We were on the deck and our son playing near a tree in the yard. He disturbed a wasp nest and was stung badly. Dick ran to him, scooped him up in his arms and took him inside. Dick calmed him, applied cream and my son looked up to him with tears in his eyes and said ?? Mister it hurts?. Dick was so gentle and kind, he carefully held this little boy and quietly told him the cream would help and that he would hold and protect him until he felt better. To this day we and our adult son, remember the man who was so kind. We would like to extend our sincere condolences. Dick will be remembered with great fondness and affection. Much love, Carolyn, Terry
