Condolences

Shaben Alma

In Loving Memory of

Alma Shaben

(Maiden: Saddy)

The Kinsman Aquasize group has lost their matriarch and I personally have lost a good friend. Alma was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Her smile lit up the whole pool and made those around her feel good. She was the always positive and inclusive. As a newly turned "senior" she was my inspiration for how to live my retirement life. Care about your appearance, make new friends, don't allow age to keep you from trying new things, stay informed on current events, offer your opinion or suggestion, don't dwell on negativity and be open to all the world has to offer was the way Alma lived her life and I hope that I will be able to follow her example. I feel privileged to have known her. I know how much Alma loved her family and wish to offer my sincerest condolences to the Shaben family.

I am so sad to hear of Almas' passing. The world is diminished by her loss. She was a giving generous person, a great hostess and a good cook! She also had a wonderful sense of humour and a wonderful smile. My late husband Phil Shragge and I always enjoyed Alma and Larrysâ?? company. Phil especially enjoyed the jokes that he and Larry exchanged, each one trying to outdo the other. I am thinking of you all and sharing in your sadness. Alma will be missed. It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Mrs. Shaben. To all family, those I knew Linda, Carol & Larry as well as those younger. Medina, Drake and other neices & nephews of Alma, may her dignity and sense of community always live within us as an example of greatness! I love that you got to have Alma in your life for so long, that does not make it any easier to lose her. She must have been an amazing "Grandmother"! My thoughts and wishes for peace are with you now as you grieve.

I wish to extend my sincere sympathy to all members of the family. I well recall the kindness and hospitality I received during several occasions in High Prairie and Edmonton during my time in government with Larry. Alma's support for the family was always evident as the challenges of public life are real. I know that she will be deeply missed by the family but also by the host of others whose lives she touched in many ways. Peace to all Jim

Alma was a truly kind person. I met Alma at the Kinsman Pool when I joined the Aquasize class. She welcomed my friend Linda and I to an amazing group of women in this class. Coffee after swimming and lunches made instant friendships. Remembering Alma's wonderful and gentle soul. My heartfelt condolences go out to Alma's family.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of a longtime friend. I have known the Saddy family since I came to Edmonton in 1945. I have enjoyed their hospitality numerous times. Alma always picked me up when we went to the Lebanese Ladies Luncheons at a south side Edmonton restaurant in the last few years. I appreciated both the ride and the conversation. Her wedding to my second cousin Larry was a blast...good Lebanese food, dancing. Alma will be missed by all who knew her. She brought sunshine into everyoneâ??s life. May she Rest In Peace.
