On behalf of the Early Learning and Child care Program at MacEwan University, I wish to express our deepest condolences on Mary's passing. As a life long advocate for quality child care, Mary will be fondly remembered as passionate and influential mentor to others, be it children, families, staff members or MacEwan students. We will continue to remember her through a scholarship in her honour and strive to create the kind of community for children that she work diligently to create.

New to Canada in 1970 and shortly afterwards through my work in Edmonton's nonprofit daycares I came to know Mary Hull. She was an early leader in her tireless work to see that all children had access to quality childcare. No matter how formidable her foe might be Mary would draw back her shoulders, and speak from the heart that all children and families were important members of our community. Mary also advocated for and provided spaces in her centre for parents who needed respite care for their children when they were at risk for child abuse- no questions asked, and she would phone and provide transportation for the parents if needed. Mary, on your way, fancy shoes on your feet, dressed stylishly and your smile ever present.

Mary was a wonderful neighbour to our parents who lived across the street. In later years when Mum was alone, Mary always kept in touch with us, and we felt reassured knowing that she was close by if Mum needed anything. A sweet and caring lady. The Sutton family

My Aunty Mary was the coolest aunty ever. Elegant and kind and funny and thoughtful. She was a tiny person but she had a big heart and a huge personality and everyone who ever met her will miss her. I know I always will.
