Condolences

In Loving Memory of

Dr. Clarence Harold Preitz

of Edmonton, AB
Feb 18, 1927 - May 30, 2018

Clarence became my dear friend and mentor back in 1977-78 when I studied Industrial Arts under his brilliant tutelage and afterward, when he became my thesis adviser in the M.Ed Industrial Arts program at the U of A. Clarence was very demanding to work with and had his own particular way of doings things which at times was frustrating. However in hindsight time always proved him to be right and it soon became clear that his method was nothing less than tough love and I soon learned that it was always for my greater benefit and assistance. He had a singular wit and sense of humor which always kept us "in stitches" and we grew to love him for it. I shall truly miss him. He was without a doubt the best teacher and the best adviser that I have ever known. It was through his glowing personal recommendation that I was hired by the Edmonton Catholic Seperate School Board right after successfully completing my M.Ed. degree under him in 1978. For that and for almost my entire teaching career with them, I shall forever be in Dr. Preitz's debt. Speaking for myself and the many students who loved this very caring man; he will be sorely missed ... but we have many precious memories... memories that will never be forgotten. God bless you Dr. Preitz and to all of your family I offer blessing and my heartfelt condolences.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I will forever be grateful for all that he taught me.
posted by Debbie Dixon : Dr.Preitz was my professor at the U of A from 1994-1996, he was an amazing teacher. He told me about my first 2 jobs (since everyone knew he was the one to contact when looking for shop teachers) I was honoured to receive one of his hand craved walnut framed mirrors as a wedding gift. I have kept in touch with him over the years and just I seen him in 2017 and again at the recognition for him at NAIT. He was truly an amazing man. : Jun 05, 2018

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Preitz was my Master's thesis supervisor in the early 1980s. He was a demanding and encouraging supervisor, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him.
