Obituary

Our beloved, beautiful family member and friend will be sadly missed. Predeceased by her parents, Marion and Allan Carlson and her nephew Blake Holmes, she is survived by her companion Joseph Tsasa, sisters Tannis (Arthur Gorham) and Nola, nieces Taryn Holmes (Dennis Hodgins) and Megan Gorham (Sean Paradis) and nephew Graeme Gorham, great nephew Blake Hodgins and special family friend Pamela Allan. We will miss her loving, gentle ways and sense of humour.

Sharon was born in Edmonton where she graduated from the University of Alberta in Romance Languages. Her poetry was widely published in the 1980s: heard on CBC Anthology, and printed in The Canadian Forum among other literary magazines. Employed at the University of Alberta in various roles and by the Government of Alberta on the Nosehill (Calgary) land reclamation project, Sharon was also self-employed as a writer and editor.

Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the United Way 15132 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, AB T5P 3Y3.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street NW, Edmonton.

In Loving Memory of
Sharon Carlson
