Obituary
On June 24, 2016, Maithe Armitage passed away at the age of 88 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her ex-husband and longest friend, Pierre Cochard; daughter, Renee Cochard (Teunis DeJong); son, Darcy (Louise) Cochard; grandchildren, Vanessa (Scott), Chloe (Chris), Jesse and Colton; great grandchildren, Jackson, Oliver and Emersyn.
Maithe was predeceased by her parents; brother Hubert and husband, John Armitage.
Maithe was born in Ghent, Belgium and emigrated to Canada in 1952. She lived in Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Peace River. She was an independent, strong woman, a feminist long before the word became common. She studied hard to become a successful optician/contact lens fitter, running her own business.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street, Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society.
